Aalo rassedar or curried potato is a very simple yet delicious and easy to make potato gravy. Its a very popular dish in northern India and is cooked in almost every household with, of course, lots of different variation.
Required ingredients
- 3 large potatoes - sliced
- 1 large onion - thinly sliced
- 2 large tomatoes - chopped
- 3-4 green chillies - chopped
- 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1.1/2 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp garam masala powder
- 1/2 tsp dry mango/amchur powder
- Salt to taste
- 1 cup water
- 2 tbsp oil
- Fresh mint leaves for garnishing
Directions & How to
- Heat oil in a thick bottomed pan, add onions and fry it till it turns translucent.
- Mix in chopped tomatoes and chillies and cook till it turns soft.
- Add ginger garlic paste, salt, chilli powder, turmeric powder and coriander powder, mix well and cook it for a minute.
- Now add the sliced potatoes, stir well, add a cup of water or a little more and cook it covered for around 6-8 minutes or till is cooked through.
- When almost done check the seasoning once, sprinkle garam masala powder and amchur powder. Stir well.
- Garnish it with fresh mint leaves and serve hot with rice or chapatis.
