Kadhao gosht is a traditional, authentic northern Indian country side dish ideal for weekend lunch or winter dinner.Served with naan or khamiri roti this dish has every bit of Indian flavours.
Required ingredients
- 500 gram mutton
- 2 medium sized onions (thickly sliced)
- 3-4 whole red chillies
- 2 tsp ginger and garlic paste
- 1 ½ turmeric powder
- 3 garlic cloves crushed
- 2 bay leaves
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp mustard oil (can use any other oil, but tastes best in mustard oil)
Muslin Pouch:
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp fennel seeds
- 1 inch cinnamon stick
Directions & How to
- Tie up all the ingredients for the pouch in the muslin cloth.
- Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan.
- Add crushed garlic when it sizzles, add bay leaves and sauté.
- Add mutton and fry very well for 3-4 minutes.
- Add ginger, garlic paste, cook for another 3-4 minutes.
- Add onions, chillies, turmeric, and salt and stir till onion soften.
- Add 2 cups of water and muslin pouch and cook it covered till the mutton gets tender (around 40-45 minutes).
- Once it’s done, take out the pouch and bay leaves.
- Serve with naan or khameer roti.
