Kaju Keema, a spicy minced meat preparation tossed with whole cashew kernels…a main course dish best served with naans or any other Indian breads.
Required ingredients
- ½ kg Minced meat - you can use any ground meat as per your choice mutton, beef or lamb.
- 2 medium onions sliced
- 2 tomatoes chopped
- 1/2 cup cashew nut
- 4-5 green chillies chopped
- 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 1/2 cup beaten yoghurt
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp black pepper powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp garam masala powder
- Juice of half a lime
- 1 cup water
- 4 tbsp oil
- Salt as per taste
- ½ cup fresh coriander and mint leaves
Directions & How to
- Heat around 2 cups of water, when it comes to a boil add cashew nuts and cook for 5 minutes. Remove from flame and let it soak in the same water for 10-15 minutes.
- Heat oil in a thick bottomed pan, add cumin seeds, when it crackles add onions and fry it till golden brown. Add chopped tomatoes, green chillies, ginger garlic paste and saute well.
- Add minced meat and fry it well, stirring continuously, breaking up any lumps if formed.
- Mix turmeric powder, pepper powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, yoghurt and salt. Stir well and let it cook on slow flame for around 15 minutes. Add around half a cup of water if needed.
- Drain the cashews and add it to the minced meat, sprinkle garam masala powder and lemon juice and cook it for further 5-6 minutes.
- Serve hot garnished with fresh coriander and mint leaves.
