Mince lamb pulao is a delicious and flavourful dish which can be served as main dish.
Required ingredients
For the mince:
- 500g minced meat
- 2 medium-sized onions, sliced
- 2 medium-sized tomatoes, sliced
- 2 tsps. ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp. garam masala powder
- 1 tsp. red chilli powder
- 1 tsp. coriander powder
- 2 tbsp. thick curd
- 3 tbsp. oil
- Salt to taste
For the pulao:
- 400g basmati rice, washed and soaked for 15 minutes
- 1 bay leaf
- Few mace strands
- 1 inch cinnamon stick
- 7-8 black peppercorns
- 3-4 green cardamom
- 1 pinch food colour (red or yellow), dissolved in 1 tbsp. water
- Salt to taste
Directions & How to
For the mince:
- Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed pan. Add onions and fry till golden.
- Add ginger-garlic paste, sauté for 1 minute.
- Add tomatoes and cook till they are mushy.
- Add minced meat, fry well till it changes colour.
- Add curd and all the powdered masalas, mix well and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
For the pulao:
- Boil 1 litre of water in a saucepan with whole garam masala and salt, for 3-4 minutes so that it infuses all the flavours of spices.
- Add rice and cook till almost done, but not completely cooked.
- Drain water and take out half of the rice from the saucepan in a separate bowl. Spread the mince over the rice. Cover it with rest of the rice. Add colour. Cover with foil and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
- Serve after 10 minutes with raita.
