Fish Curry (Awadhi Style) is a tangy and delicious dish, tastes great with rice.
Required ingredients
- 500 gm fish pieces
- Few fenugreek seeds
- 2 tbsp. oil
- Oil to deep fry
For the Curry paste
- 1 small onion
- 3 medium sized tomatoes
- 1 tsp. ginger garlic paste
- 1 tsp. red chilli powder
- 1 tsp. coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp. garam masala powder
- 1 tbsp. thick sour curd (optional)
- Salt to taste
For the marinade
- 1 tsp. white vinegar
- 1/2 tsp. garlic paste
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 tbsp. gram flour
- Salt to taste
Directions & How to
- Mix all the ingredients for the marinade to the fish and let it marinate for 1/2 an hour.
- Heat oil in a wok to deep fry and fry fish pieces in small batches till crisp, keep aside.
- Put all the ingredinets for the curry paste in a food processor and make a fine paste.
- Heat 2 tbsp. oil add fenugreek seeds, saute for 10-15 seconds.
- Add the curry paste and cook till oil floats on top.
- Gently add the fish pieces to the gravy. Add 1/2 cup of water to adjust the thickness of gravy.
- Cook for 2 minutes.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with rice.
