Full of protein, tastes great both as snack and as side dish.

Required ingredients

  • 1 cup black Chana (Black Gram) soaked overnight
  • 1 small sized onion
  • 5 garlic cloves
  • ½ inch ginger piece
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 cm cinnamon stick
  • 1 black cardamom
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Few peppercorns
  • 1 strand of mace
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped onions

Directions & How to

  • Pressure cook black chanas with sliced onions, ginger , garlic, salt , chilli powder, whole garam masala with ½ cup of water till very soft.
  • Open the lid when the pressure cools itself and dry any excess liquid.
  • Grind the chanas to a fine paste.
  • Add chopped onions, coriander leaves, garam masala powder and lemon juice.
  • Make small patties and shallow fry in a pan till crisp.
  • Serve as a side dish or snack.
